Look out for the new way to rate covers. After months of seeing the
star rating system being abused by people simply clicking 1 star on
perfectly good covers, we have designed a new simpler method of rating
covers. Each cover now has a 'thanks' button as shown below.


Each cover will display how many people have said thanks. Simply show
your appreciation for a cover by clicking the 'thanks' button and your score
will be added to the total.

Hopefully those that like to see how well ranked a cover is will find this just
as useful as the old system.

Great idea, but I would move the 'Thanks' button up alongside the thumbnail and 'download' button, as most people won't scroll down they will just click 'download'.

Just a thought.

Interesting suggestion. I'll have a play and see if I like it like that

bad idea. why? because before i've made "eye scan" over other versions and chose covers with biggest rating (ofcourse, if they had a lot of votes, 10 and more).

now with this "thanks" button:
1.) we dont have any "score" yet
2.) how the hell will i know cover "real ratio"? all what i can see is how much ppl press "thank" button and NOT REAL SCORE (4.8/5.0 fir example).

from now ill need to open *every* version of cover and judge myself. this will make a lot of wasted time for me and a lot of bandwith traffic for your server.

if you really want to continue with this "thank" button, it would be nice that users could *chose themself* what they can see (rating or thanking). or maybe even both options.

i know where you're coming from m8, but it was just being abused so much that it was no longer a useful reference.

clicking the thumbnail to get a slightly bigger one takes seconds (unless you are on dialup) and gives you a fair idea of how a cover will look, plus the number of downloads is also an indication.
you should also know the quality to expect from regular submitters, we pride ourselves on quality and try to weed out all the rubbish.

this system was not entered into lightly, and at the moment we can't think of a fairer way to do it that cannot be abused by the minority that want to ruin the console-covers experience for everyone else.
